According to a report from a CNET auto tech blog, new technology has emerged that could prevent drivers from using a smartphone while behind the wheel.
Apparently, this new technology uses a vehicle’s exisiting Bluetooth and audio technology to measure acoustically whether a phone is being used by someone behind the wheel or a passenger.
As soon as the phone figures out that the user is driving, it could lock the phone’s interface, or block texts and incoming calls.
