Service King Collision Repair Centers, San Antonio market, recently hosted its first annual golf tournament raising $25,000 for the Helping a Hero organization. Helping a Hero is a non-profit, non-partisan organization providing support for military personnel that have been severely injured in the war. Their principal activity is to provide specially adapted homes for qualifying service members as well as engaging the community to provide services and resources for our wounded heroes and their families.
“This was our first tournament in San Antonio and it was a huge success. We were thrilled to have donated $25,000 to the Helping a Hero organization. Our tournament came at a perfect time, as they are awarding a home to a double amputee in two weeks,” said Jeremy Lennox, vice president of the San Antonio market. “Golf tournaments have always been a great time for fellowship between all of our teammates and industry partners and we were honored to have made an impact in the life of a local hero."
After the golf tournament, Service King had a luncheon and live auction. Local agents, vendors and staff bid on donated items to raise money for the cause. Some of the costly live auction items were donated so one hero could have his own ‘man cave’ with some fantastic sports memorabilia.
“We are excited and overjoyed to be helping out our local heroes,” said Jennifer McCarter, area sales manager.
“These kind-hearted and brave men remain fearless warriors for this wonderful cause, representing their fellow soldiers throughout our country and abroad. There is no greater love than the sacrifices these men laid down for their fellow soldiers and their country,” said Jeff McFadden, president.
This news comes in advance of Service King’s 18th annual Dallas/Fort Worth Golf Tournament on October 22, where it hopes to have another successful outing and auction benefiting the Interfaith Housing Coalition. Since hosting its first tournament in Dallas 18 years ago, Service King has raised more than $500,000 for local charities.
