Caliber Collision’s Food Drive Donates 172,000 Meals to Local Food Banks

Food drive in California, Arizona, Nevada and Texas results in 22,000 food items, $5,400 in donations and matching corporate contribution of $26,871.

A collective two-week food drive hosted by Caliber Collision Centers in California, Arizona, Nevada and Texas has resulted in 22,000 food items, $5,400 in cash donations, and a matching corporate contribution of $26,871 for local food banks.

According to representatives of the food banks, the combined food and cash contributions translate into approximately 172,000 additional meals that the organizations can provide for local families this summer. Caliber Collision’s Rhythm Restoration Food Drive was an employee-driven effort with Caliber pledging to match $1 for each food item and dollar donated.

“This contribution comes at an extremely critical time during summer months when donations slow down but the need to feed many families does not,” said Carole Tremblay, chief development ffficer of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. “With many families still struggling in this economy, and school lunch programs on hiatus for the summer, Caliber’s contribution will make a tremendous positive impact in the lives of many families.”

“This is one of the largest food drives in our industry and we thank our customers, vendors and associates who took time to bring donated items to our centers,” said Steve Grimshaw, president and CEO of Caliber Collision. “Restoring customers to the rhythm of their lives is what we do every day when we repair their vehicles. We are proud of our associates’ efforts to extend that commitment and help restore the rhythm of regular meals to children and families in the local communities we serve.”

Recipients of Caliber Collision’s food drive include:

•    Feeding America San Diego (San Diego, Calif.)
