National Auto Body Council Gifts Six ‘Recycled Rides’ to Families In Need

Needy families from New Orleans received donated vehicles today at NACE.

The Maltese family received a refurbished Ford Escape, which was donated by Enterprise.Today at NACE, the National Auto Body Council (NABC) made six families’ days a little brighter by gifting six donated vehicles through its Recycled Rides program.

Recycled Rides is a national initiative through which NABC members refurbish donated vehicles and gift them to families in need and service organizations dedicated to assisting others. The program is an intra-industry effort, so insurers, paint suppliers, parts vendors, rental car companies and other members of the industry are recruited to make their own contributions.

The vehicles were refurbished by Car Craft Collision Centers, Champ’s Collision Centers, Collision Xperts and Fradella’s Collision Center — all of which are local establishments. Allstate, Esurance, GEICO, Progressive, State Farm and Enterprise Rent-A-Car donated the vehicles.

The families who received the vehicles expressed their gratitude for the program. "I didn’t feel like it was real," said Judy Michel, who heard the news about her new ride just two weeks ago. "I can’t wait to show my little ones."

"I’m disabled and my wife is disabled, and I needed transportation to get to the doctor’s," said Ricky Maltese, who received a refurbished Ford Escape from Enterprise. "I’m very happy."
