AASP-MN to Host ‘Estimating Best Practices’ Seminar

Mike Anderson of Collision Advice will teach attendees a systematic approach to making sure all "not included" items are included in the repair plan.

On Friday, March 29, the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers – Minnestoa (AASP-MN) will host “Estimating Best Practices” from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Lowell’s Training Center in Edina, Minn. Well-known industry trainer Mike Anderson of Collision Advice will present the session.

Attendees will learn a systematic approach to discovering and ensuring that all of the “not included” items required to restore a vehicle back to its pre-accident condition are included on the repair plan. They will also gain a better understanding of what key performance indicators (KPIs) should be monitored when auditing the quality of their estimates.

The program includes:

• The Three Ts – Thorough Disassembly, Thorough Damage Analysis and Thorough Auditing
• Understanding why some things are not-included items in the p-pages (Variable Theory)
• How to write a damage analysis in conjunction with 100 percent disassembly
• How to utilize technology to "write it right"
• How to get paid for hotly contested items, such as prepping raw plastic, blend within a panel, “feather, prime and block,” masking operations and weld burn damage
• The importance of OEM information

Other topics addressed include:

• How to utilize systems to avoid last minute parts delays
• The importance of 100 percent disassembly and its effect on cycle time
• "Must-have” tools for profitable estimating, such as the DEG website, ASA not-included guides, and parts and OEM websites
