Collision Industry Leader Matt Ohrnstein Passes Away

Ohrnstein was a highly sought-after speaker and collision industry pioneer.

Matt OhrnsteinMatthew Ohrnstein, former Caliber Collision Centers CEO and current managing director of Symphony Advisors and co-host of the Collision Repair Executive Webcast (CREW), passed away on Tuesday, April 30 while jogging near his home in Southern California.

Ohrnstein is survived by Marcy Tieger, his wife of 19 years and business partner with Symphony Advisors, and sons Michael and Steven and daughters Jessica and Rose.

Ohrnstein served as chairman and CEO of Caliber Collision Centers from 1997 until October 2004. Under his leadership, Caliber added 68 stores in California and Texas with annual revenues of more than $200 million and more than 1,600 employees. He was a featured speaker at many collision repair events both in the U.S. and internationally. He was a co-founder of the Collision Repair Executive Webcast (CREW), an every-other-month webcast that features a guest speaker and focuses on collision repair topics. As managing director of Symphony Advisors, Ohrnstein and wife, Marcy, assisted countless collision repair businesses with services covering mergers/acquisitions, strategic planning, litigation management, succession planning and more.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Rady Children’s Hospital. In the designation section, choose "Heart Institute," and in the comments section, indicate "at the discretion of Dr. John Lamberti."
