Recycled Rides, First Responders and Distracted Driving Simulator Highlight NABC Schedule at NACE

Nevada homeless youths, medically-challenged kids and Las Vegas-area firefighters to benefit from NABC member-sponsored activities.

The National Auto Body Council (NABC) has announced a jam-packed schedule of activities at the upcoming NACE Show Oct. 16-18 in Las Vegas that includes Recycled Rides vehicle giveaways, live first responder extrication demos and a texting-and-driving simulator.

Chuck Sulkala, NABC executive director, invites all NACE attendees to visit Booth 634 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

“Giving back to our communities is a common goal of our membership," said Sulkala. "We invite show attendees to see our community service programs in action and to learn more about how they can share these programs back home to help make a difference in their own local communities.”

Scheduled highlights at the NABC booth include:

First Responder Emergency Extrication (FREE), Thursday, Oct. 17, 1 p.m. First responders from the Clark County Fire Department in Henderson, Nev., will be practicing live emergency extrication techniques on late-model vehicles. Given all the new metals and advancements in new vehicle design, the FREE program provides first responders with rare hands-on opportunities to practice life-saving techniques that can save precious minutes and lives.

Recycled Rides presentation, Thursday, Oct. 17, 3 p.m. Keys to a specially equipped, handicap-accessible van, donated by State Farm and refurbished by Gerber Collision, will be presented to the Foundation for Positively Kids. The van will be used to provide transportation so medically-challenged children can receive the care they need.

Recycled Rides presentation, Friday, Oct. 18, 10:30 a.m. Two vehicles, donated by Allstate and repaired by Caliber Collision and the Van Tuyl Group, will be presented to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youths. The vehicles will be used as part of the organization’s effort to help homeless youth get off the streets and back on the road to stability.

Distracted driving simulator test drives throughout show hours. NABC has teamed up with AT&T to provide NACE show attendees with the opportunity to experience the dangers of texting and driving first-hand. NABC’s Distracted Driving Initiative is aimed at helping educate drivers of all ages about the dangers of inattentive and distracted driving.
