General Motors Approves Three PPG Clearcoats

Products underwent comprehensive testing to meet General Motors' quality standards.

General Motors has given global approval for use of select PPG clearcoats for warranty repairs on its vehicles. The approved products include PPG’s Nexa Autocolor P190-6800 HS Express Clearcoat, Envirobase High Performance EC800 Ultra Fast 2.1 Clearcoat and Deltron DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clearcoat.

P190-6800 HS Express Clearcoat is a 2.1 VOC air-dry compliant clearcoat designed for use with the PPG Aquabase Plus waterborne refinish system that offers productivity, durability and a high-quality final appearance, according to the company. The clearcoat is formulated to eliminate the need for flash time between coats, spraybooth heat time and cool-down before polishing, thereby reducing total process time.

EC800 Ultra Fast 2.1 Clearcoat is also a 2.1 VOC air-dry clearcoat that shortens refinish cycle times while delivering premium quality finishes. Requiring no flash time between coats, it dries dust-free in as little as 10 minutes and does not require any time baking in the paint booth.

Deltron DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clearcoat is a versatile clearcoat suited for use with the Deltron DBC, Global Refinish System and Envirobase High Performance basecoats. It also is a quick-drying clearcoat that requires no flash time between coats and no baking in the refinish process. It provides a high-quality gloss and final appearance in about 25 minutes.

Each product underwent comprehensive testing to ensure it met General Motors’ rigorous quality standards.
