Colorado Shop Owner Develops PDR Estimating App

Ding Stinger aims to protect collision repairers from false claims.

A body shop owner decided to expound upon his 22 years of paintless dent repair (PDR) experience and create an app to help protect collision repairers from false claims.

James Bishop, owner and general manager of The Ding Guy in Colorado Springs, Colo., collaborated with technician Jake Durfee to create the Ding Stinger. Available in the Apple App Store, the Ding Stinger provides shops with a thorough vehicle check-in system using photo documentation and note-taking to not only protect them from false claims, but also accurately price and sell appropriate repairs to the consumer.

The development of the app has opened doors to consulting on estimation and repairs in the PDR field, as Bishop has been hired as an expert witness in court cases related to PDR estimation.

"We’re grateful to our users, because without their input, suggestions and insight, we wouldn’t have been able to do this," said Durfee.
