Malco Executive Vice President Announces Retirement

Don Schmidt, who has been with the company for more than 42 years, was instrumental in ushering in change to the company culture.

Malco Products Executive Vice President Don Schmidt has announced his retirement from the company, effective June 26, 2014.

Schmidt has been with Malco for more than 42 years, where he has held positions as national sales manager, director of sales and promotion, vice president of sales and marketing and, for the past 18 years, executive vice president. He has been the face of Malco at industry functions for many years. During his tenure, he was instrumental in ushering in change to the company culture as a member of steering committees that formalized processes for manufacturing and resource planning, new product development, and product customization. He also led Malco initiatives to grow globally and, during the Great Recession, spearheaded efforts to diversify Malco’s markets and product line.

Schmidt will continue to serve on the Malco Board of Directors as he transitions into retirement. In recent years, Malco’s top management structure has transitioned to director positions for finance, operations, marketing and product development. Mary Ross, director of marketing, continues to oversee both sales and marketing functions for Malco, and Eric Peterson continues to lead new product development.
