U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-Pa.) invited fellow members of Congress to take a ride in Carnegie Mellon University’s driverless car. In a press conference earlier that day, Shuster said, “We have to encourage our state partners to utilize new technologies, and along with the states, we must begin planning for the benefits and challenges that new technologies will bring to our transportation system.”
The Automotive Service Association (ASA) will continue to monitor the committee’s activities, including any legislation pertaining to vehicle safety and emerging technologies.
ASA is the largest not-for-profit trade association of its kind dedicated to and governed by independent automotive service and repair professionals. ASA serves an international membership base that includes numerous affiliate, state and chapter groups from both the mechanical and collision repair segments of the automotive service industry. Join ASA July 30-Aug. 2 in Detroit for this year’s International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE) and Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS).
