CARSTAR Raises $135,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation of America

CARSTAR Auto Body Repair Experts has announced that in 2014, its corporate team and store owners around the country banded together to hold fundraising events for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and its local chapters that generated nearly $135,000 for the ongoing wish-granting activities of the charity.

Several high-profile events included:

  • CARSTAR Liss Auto Body of Crown Point, Ind., raised $22,232 for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana – Indiana Region at its annual golf tournament. The event hosted at White Hawk Country Club in Crown Point had 156 golf participants and numerous hole sponsors.
  • On May 8, 2014, Kurt’s CARSTAR Collision Center with the help of Scott Credit Union, the community, and the Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob and Collinsville Chambers of Commerce raised $20,041.43 for Make-A-Wish Illinois. Since 2003, Kurt’s CARSTAR has donated more than $120,000 to Make-A-Wish Illinois both in cash and in-kind donations. The donations were raised at the Collinsville VFW for Kurt’s CARSTAR’s Eighth Annual Business After Hours Make-A-Wish Fundraiser, which benefited Make-A-Wish Illinois. The team’s goal for this year’s fundraiser was to raise $15,000, which was met with a $2,338.43 increase from last year’s event. The donations will help grant three wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
  • The CARSTAR Puget Sound Business Group held their ninth annual golf tournament at the New Castle Golf Club this summer, and raised more than $34,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Washington. The tournament also benefited wish recipient Tristan Nusser in the chapter’s recent Walk for Wishes event
  • More than $18,000 was raised by the CARSTAR Arizona Business Group at their first annual charity golf tournament to benefit Make-A-Wish Arizona. The tournament, which was held at Stoneridge Golf Course in Prescott, Ariz., featured a Make-A-Wish recipient, eight-year-old Pheungboon Kraisorn, along with his father, Theetut, playing all 18 holes.
  • The CARSTAR Colorado Business Group helped make the wish of Jason, a local teenager, come true. Jason, the owner of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, had submitted a makeover of his vehicle as his wish to the Colorado Chapter of Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. Once completed, more than $13,000 in repairs and upgrades went into his car.
  • Special recognition also goes to Bob Keith, CARSTAR’s director of training and education, who once again set a new record for selling pins to promote Make-A-Wish Foundation during the CARSTAR conference. This year, he raised more than $11,600, which raises his seven-year total to more than $53,300.
  • For the second year in a row, the CARSTAR shops of Western New York were the main sponsors for Allstate’s Make-A-Wish charity golf tournament. Their $7,500 donation covered the cost of making a child’s wish come true.
  • The CARSTAR Milwaukee Business Group teamed up with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League for a season long charity drive to raise money for the Wisconsin Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. The fundraiser, which was called “Add Another Biscuit to the Basket,” was able to raise $6,000 for the charity this year. Every time the Admirals scored a goal during the 2013-2014 season, the CARSTAR Milwaukee Business Group made a $10 donation to Make-A-Wish, with the hockey club matching each donation.
  • The CARSTAR MoKan Business Group granted the wish of three-year-old Becquer, who wanted to go to Disneyworld and meet Captain America. Becquer had recently overcome a rare form of eye cancer, retinoblastoma. The money to grant the wish was raised by the 14 CARSTAR stores in the Kansas City metro area at their fall 2014 invitational golf tournament.
