Mitchell’s 2015 Property & Casualty Conference Unites Leaders

Annual event examines market trends and spotlights new technologies for P&C industry.

Mitchell International announced it has concluded its annual Property & Casualty Conference, a three-day event that saw hundreds of auto physical damage, auto casualty and workers’ compensation insurance claims experts in attendance. The conference, which took place March 23-25 in Carlsbad, Calif., showcased the latest market trends and technologies aimed at improving business processes and outcomes.

“Each year, Mitchell’s P&C Conference provides a forum to unite leaders in the property and casualty claims industry fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas,” said Alex Sun, CEO of Mitchell. “Highlighting Mitchell’s commitment to our customers and the future of our industry, our goal is to empower attendees through educational sessions focused on market trends and opportunities as well as new resources available to grow and support their businesses.”

A newly added track this year, “Creating Competitive Differentiation through Advanced Integrations,” focused on Mitchell Labs, examining the technology trends driving process transformation and why integrations are crucial. Best practices for successful integrations were presented via a case study focused on the joint development of prebuilt Guidewire and Mitchell integrations.

Auto casualty sessions included a deep-dive into the next phase of Mitchell’s ClaimIQ solution user interface improvements for liability, and a glimpse into the future of third-party processing. Auto casualty and workers’ compensation sessions both examined the new legislative climate and included a retrospective analysis of current billing trends. In addition, workers’ compensation sessions delved into methods payers can use to address the challenges of medical payment dynamics such as rising medical costs, provider consolidation and cost-shifting.

The auto physical damage sessions focused on advanced data and technology as a catalyst toward self-service FNOL as well as the latest safety technologies and their impact on claims frequency. The sessions concluded with an OEM roundtable where equipment manufacturers discussed the move toward bringing automakers and vehicle owners closer during the collision repair process.

“I’m always impressed by the forward-thinking sessions that address the real-world challenges of an evolving market,” said Shawn Rampelberg, director of material damage claims, Nodak Mutual Insurance Group. “The breadth of knowledge presented is unique to the P&C Conference and can immediately be put into practice. Each year, I leave energized with fresh ideas to improve my business.”

The Mitchell P&C Conference concluded with the annual Community Charity Networking Event, an extension of Mitchell’s internal initiative to inspire colleagues nationwide in giving back to their communities. This year’s event aided the USO, with funds benefitting U.S. troops and young military families.
