I-CAR Mourns the Loss of Collision Repair Industry Veteran Johnny Dickerson

Always cheerful and always available, Dickerson will be missed by I-CAR and the entire collision repair community.

Johnny Dickerson, a long-time collision repair industry professional, a nationally-recognized welding expert and a friend of the industry on many levels, passed away unexpectedly in Nashville, Tenn., this past weekend.

Dickerson is survived by his wife, Mary, their two sons and two grandsons.

Dickerson became involved with collision repair at an early age, taking over the family business in Texas as a young man and working tirelessly for improvement of the entire industry through local associations and national initiatives.

As an early supporter of I-CAR more than three decades ago, Dickerson became an I-CAR Instructor. For the past 10 years, he worked full-time as a member of the I-CAR Field Operations team, most recently as performance training coordinator. Dickerson helped lead efforts to shift I-CAR’s Welding Training & Certification courses to an in-shop event and kept the program up-to-date. Training and mentoring every I-CAR welding instructor – and always providing quiet, calm and knowledgeable support to those in need – Dickerson earned the respect of the entire collision repair industry.

Always cheerful and always available, Dickerson will be missed by I-CAR and the entire collision repair community.

In lieu of flowers, the Dickerson family has requested donations be made to the Friendship House, 620 W. Ave. “D”, Garland, Texas 75040, (972) 272-1010. Arrangements are pending in the Dallas, Texas area.
