SCRS Hopes to Foster Unity and Pool Industry Resources with Annual Conference

The Society for Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) is planning its third annual Affiliate Leadership Conference to be held in September. The conference will focus on networking and pooling regional resources to strengthen the collision repair industry as a whole.

The SCRS Affiliate Leadership Conference spotlights and serves the needs of affiliate associations and brings together association members to share their unique strengths and strategies with other industry professionals, according to the SCRS.

“The conference provides exposure to expertise and ‘battle-tested’ strategies an attendee might not otherwise have time to seek out,” SCRS Chairman Gary Wano said. “In addition, the conference is a chance for the SCRS board to obtain feedback on how it’s doing, and an opportunity for us to communicate our plans and intentions directly to the affiliates.”

SCRS Vice Chairman Barry Dorn added by bringing together professionals from different associations, the conference could potentially start a larger movement within the industry.

“Sometimes trends, policies or legislation relate to more than one state or region,” Dorn said. “The necessary information gathering may require more effort and manpower than is normally available to a single association. But if two or three associations pool their resources together and coordinate a multi-state survey, for example, it becomes more cost-effective and powerful.”

The conference will be held Thursday, Sept. 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at I-CAR World Headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Visit www.scrs.com or e-mail [email protected] for more information.
