The Washington Post reported that lawmakers and regulators are pretty much moving out of the autonomous vehicle industry’s way, paving the way for it to introduce self-driving cars in their states. The reason, according to the Washington Post article, is that these states hope to attract what they feel is a potentially lucrative market.

According to the story, California, Florida, Michigan and Nevada and the District of Columbia have created laws to make automated vehicles legal. And only two of those states have set detailed regulations. In states such as Virginia and Texas, it’s much more easy for self-driving cars to hit their roadways because, in the states’ view, doing so is legal because the law doesn’t say otherwise.
