Collision Diagnostic Services (CDS) announced the asTech 2 was awarded second place in the Collision Repair & Refinish product category at the New Product Showcase at this year’s SEMA Show, which included more than 100,000 participants from 100 countries. This marks the remote diagnostic device as one of the “most exciting new automotive products to be released in 2016.”

The asTech device is a remote diagnostic tool that allows collision shops and repair technicians to have a vehicle scanned before or after repair work is done. This will ensure that all of the vehicle’s issues have been fully addressed and all systems are working properly.

The technician connects the asTech unit to the vehicle, puts the key in the car, turns the ignition to ON, and connects a battery support, which will keep the car battery from dying during a scan. The technician goes to the asTech website to submit a service request. An OEM master technician will send a message to the asTech unit informing the shop that the scan is about to begin, and once the scan is completed, the asTech master technician transmits a full report to the shop.
