The Guardian reported that Ford filed a patent application on March 1st related to the development of an “autonomous vehicle entertainment system.”
The background information section of the application reveals that “instead of concentrating on numerous driving-related responsibilities, the driver may be free to watch movies,” with a “projection screen… located… near the windshield.”
Drawings that accompanied the application suggest the system might work as a drop-down screen at the front of the car, blocking out the windscreen, with a projector positioned between the two front seats. The description suggests these may “retract into the ceiling” when not in use.
