Maaco held a DRP Summit April 6-8 in Boston with the theme, “Gaining the Edge Through Best Practices.”

Thirteen Maaco shop owners from Massachusetts, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island attended to learn how they can get more insurance business by leveraging their KPIs. A few vendors were in attendance as well, including Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Sherwin-Williams, CCC One and 3M.

Enterprise gave a presentation on how the rental car company, insurer and shop can work together to control LOR, or length of rental. Steve Feltovich of Sherwin-Williams talked about process improvement and how to improve efficiency and put out a higher quality product. I-CAR discussed ROI for training and certification, and TenPoint Complete gave an overview of the importance of CSI and Net Promoter Score.

The event was held at a Maaco store in Brockton, which the group got to tour and see the system they employ to repair vehicles quickly and efficiently.

Pat Fahey, director of insurance relations, said that the DRP Summit was created because there were a lot of good ideas among the Maaco stores that weren’t being shared.

“So we started this to exchange ideas and find out what works, building a foundation to go after [insurance] business, to overcome that brand: ‘You guys are Maaco, you can’t handle this,'” said Fahey. “We have to work harder than everyone else because we’re Maaco.”
