Complete Agenda and Speakers Released for NACE | CARS Service Repair Leadership Forum

SRLF provides industry leaders with an opportunity to discuss vital issues, share business knowledge, network with key decision makers, gain insight into leading trends of today and help shape the future of the industry.

The complete agenda has been released for the Service Repair Leadership Forum (SRLF), taking place during NACE | CARS on Thursday, Aug. 11th, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif. This year’s SRLF is sponsored by AutoVitals, Professional Tool & Equipment News (PTEN) and Ratchet + Wrench.

SRLF provides industry leaders a unique opportunity to discuss vital issues, share business knowledge, network with key decision makers, gain insight into leading trends of today and help shape the future of the industry. This forum is open to all individuals and companies interested in advancing the automotive industry. However, space is limited, so it is recommended that you reserve your spot soon.

Preceding the event, a private breakfast will be held on Thursday, Aug. 11th at 7 a.m. SRLF will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at noon for a private strolling luncheon.

Here is an overview of the agenda:

Opening Remarks: Communicating with Your Car

New Talent Panel on the crisis the automotive industry is facing – far too few qualified technicians are making it into the workforce. Join four of the best educational minds in the industry for a frank and enlightening discussion:

  • Jeff Peevy, AMI president, moderator
  • Trish Serratore, NATEF
  • Brian Cruickshank, University of the Aftermarket
  • Chris Chesney, CARQUEST Technical Institute

Vehicle and Repair Shop Cybersecurity, the key or impediment to independent repair shops’ access to next-gen vehicle technology. Our experts will help you to understand what the issues are in the big picture and all the way into the bays of your shop:

  • Donny Seyfer, ASA chairman, moderator
  • Mohan Sethi, MAHLE
  • Josh Meyer, Bosch
  • Bob Gruszczynksi, Volkswagen

Service and Parts Info – Next Level, the way in which you access information is evolving along with the cars you service. Our service information experts will show you the latest repair information techniques and time-saving ways to improve your shop’s bottom line. Additionally, our partners at AASA will demonstrate a way to find parts information and have readily available technical support on those parts right when you need it.

  • Tony Molla, ASA VP, moderator
  • Ben Johnson, Mitchell1
  • Chris Chesney, CARQUEST Technical Institute
  • Jay Burkhart, AASA
  • Jad Dunning, MotoShop Technology Tools
  • Global Automakers panelist
  • ALLDATA panelist

Licensing | Registration | Regulation. Many industry leaders believe that we are close to a situation where shop licensing and/or technician licensing may be pushed on us. Those leaders also believe it makes sense to take a proactive approach, much like the approach that created ASE back in 1973 to offer consumer and government officials. Listen, debate and share your thoughts with this group of experts:

  • Bill Hanvey, president, Auto Care Association, moderator
  • Charlie Elder, Ray Gordon Brake Service
  • Bob Redding, ASA
  • Patrick Dorais, Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR)

Not Your Grandfather’s Service Station. Many years ago, the collision industry experienced a major disruption when many independent shops were purchased to create multi-shop organizations. We see an emerging revolution in the service repair industry that is going to cause repair shop owners to rethink and revise their business model. Our goal is to provide an insider view of the future of service repair that allows attendees to react to ensure the future success of their business model.

  • Chris Gardner, vice president, Aftermarket Automotive Suppliers Association, moderator
  • Frank Leutz, shop owner, president, ASA Arizona
  • Stuart Crum, Bridgestone
  • Bob Augustine, Christian Brothers
  • John Nielson, AAA
