Intertek and the Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA) are marking 25 years of partnership in ensuring the development of high-quality, certified aftermarket automotive parts in the U.S. The partnership, which has evolved over the years, has included consulting, evaluations, testing and certification services for replacement parts and accessories made by independent manufacturers.
“CAPA’s priority has always been to ensure that high-quality, certified aftermarket automotive parts are a viable option for insurers, collision shops and, most importantly, the American consumer,” said Jack Gillis, executive director of CAPA. “Marketplace competition is critically important, and the CAPA/Intertek collaboration insures that choosing competitive parts does not mean compromising quality or safety. Our partnership with Intertek has made it possible to provide the industry with peace of mind in CAPA certified parts, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration.”
While automobiles are sold with parts manufactured and installed by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), after the vehicle’s sale, replacement parts may come from independent manufacturers for repairs or enhancements. CAPA’s standards have been used in the U.S. and throughout the world to certify that aftermarket auto parts are of good quality, based on their design, materials and construction. Intertek has served as a partner to CAPA in certifying these parts based on years of expertise in performance, quality and reliability standards and expectations for the automotive industry.
“At Intertek, we are committed to helping ensure the quality of replacement auto parts with our third-party evaluations,” said Tim Hubbard, senior vice president at Intertek. “Working with CAPA to test products to their standards allows for more options in the marketplace, and we are pleased to celebrate 25 years of partnership as we look toward the future.”
