Axalta Coating Systems was a supporter of the SkillsUSA’s 52nd Annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) that took place June 20-24 in Louisville, Ky. The partnership provided support to the event’s Automotive Refinishing Technology Contest, which contributes to SkillsUSA’s mission to improve the quality of America’s skilled workforce through a structured program of citizenship, leadership, employability, technical and professional skills training.

“As a longtime partner of SkillsUSA, we are very pleased to continue our official partnership to help cultivate interest in the refinish industry,” said Patrice Marcil, Axalta’s North American learning and development director. “The conference provides the unique opportunity for young people to experience the art of refinish and showcase their talents in an exciting forum.”

The SkillsUSA Championships are competitive events for career and technical education students that begin locally and progress to state and national levels. The national event in Kentucky drew more than 6,000 contestants who competed in 100 separate events, including automotive refinish and collision repair categories.

In addition to the official partnership, Axalta donated paint supplies and educational instruction to help facilitate the refinish contest.
