SCRS Announces Event Lineup in Anaheim

Open board meeting on Aug. 9th will touch on zero point calibration and California legislation impacting the collision industry, and there will also be a tour of the SEMA Garage on Aug. 10th.

The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) announced that it will hold an Open Board Meeting on Tuesday, August 9th from 9-11 a.m. in the GOLD KEY III room at the Anaheim Marriott in Anaheim, Calif. SCRS invites all industry participants interested in learning more about the association’s work to attend. The two-hour meeting will include updates from SCRS staff, committees and guests from the industry.

The SCRS Affiliate Communications Committee will include an update from Ted Stein, president of the California Autobody Association (CAA), a local SCRS affiliate association. Stein will give a brief overview of state-level initiatives, legislation and other ongoing activity that impacts the membership.

The agenda will also feature Jake Rodenroth, director of client services for Collision Diagnostic Services, who will deliver a guest presentation for the SCRS Education Committee, addressing the basics of zero point calibration. The educational program will clarify how the automakers define the operation, how it is actually performed and the consequences if it is not performed or performed incorrectly. It will also provide insight into what a repair facility needs from its technicians, including training and tooling, to effectively complete the operation. The presentation will conclude with questions from the audience.

The SCRS Open Board Meeting does not require pre-registration and is open to anyone.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 10th, SCRS will host a tour of the SEMA Garage, located just 18 miles away from the host hotel. The SEMA Garage is the industry’s premier product innovation center, and whether you manufacture products, tools and equipment or are just interested in automotive technology, the SEMA Garage is a destination to experience. Launched in 2014, the 15,000-square-foot facility features cutting-edge technology, tools and equipment. Resources include a fully equipped CARB-recognized emissions laboratory, FARO Edge ScanArm HD laser scanner, Fortus 450mc 3-D printer by Stratasys, fully outfitted garage space complete with lifts and a wide assortment of hand and power tools, a full vehicle and product photo studio, and flexible space designed to accommodate industry guests. The garage will also serve as a featured location for upcoming video releases being produced by the SCRS Education Committee.

Transportation options will be available from and to the Anaheim Marriott at 3:30 p.m., as well as from Don Long’s garage. Registration is required to account for transportation (small charge for the bus ride) and food. Click here for more information and registration.
