WMABA Asks Collision Repairers to Rate Insurance Companies

The Washington Metropolitan Auto Body Association has announced that it is opening a survey for collision repairers in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. to anonymously rate insurers in several categories.

The Washington Metropolitan Auto Body Association (WMABA) has announced that it is opening a survey for collision repairers in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. to anonymously rate insurance company market behaviors in several categories. Utilizing a list of the largest carriers by market share, repairers will be given an opportunity to give their feedback.

The survey will provide results to collision repairers, the association and insurers on how they’re handling claims in the mid-Atlantic region. With some insurers having specific market tactics utilized in each market, under different leadership, this may show the overall perception from the repair industry to their claims staff. WMABA hopes the information is helpful to improve relationships with the carriers in the area.

The topics in the survey are:

  1. Shop Relations – Claims Handling
  2. Customer Experience
  3. Insurer Knowledge Base
  4. Overall Fairness
  5. Insurer Payment for Proper Procedures
  6. Open Comment

Previous WMABA surveys have focused on general labor rates in their market, and the association will continue to perform that survey bi-annually on even-numbered years.

“Our association is focused on bettering the overall market conditions for the collision repair,” said Jordan Hendler, executive director of WMABA. “This survey – while some may think is arbitrary – is really about narrowing the field of both positive and negative interactions. The biggest loser of any negative claim experience is the vehicle owner. Their experience is what we are also concerned about. Those who do it better should be commended.”
