Auto Body Shops Backlogged After Severe Winter Weather

While the weather begins to get back to normal after a few weeks of severe snow and cold, body shops in and around the midwest are in the process of working through a backlog of work, according to an article by the Journal Sentinel.

While the weather begins to get back to normal after a few weeks of severe snow and cold, body shops in and around the midwest are in the process of working through a backlog of work, according to an article by the Journal Sentinel.

The backlog is especially prevalent in places such as the Milwaukee, Wis., area. An estimator from Pinkey’s Capital Auto Body told the Journal that he had seen double the number of car repair estimates in recent days as a result.

The most popular repair he’s been seeing is plastic bumper repairs due to the record low temps that cause them to shatter after any sort of bump to them.

Auto body repair shops across the city are not only facing a backlog of work but delayed deliveries as well, according to the article.

Debbie Zabel, co-owner of Forest Home CARSTAR Auto Body on Milwaukee’s southwest side, said the shop missed deliveries from multiple parts suppliers last week, delaying some repairs. There’s a three-week backlog at Studer Body & Paint on Milwaukee’s west side. Owner Bob Studer said more severe repairs are needed for cars coming into his shop because of the snowy conditions, according to the article.
