The Automotive Management Institute (AMI) and Babcox Publications jointly announced today that David Solmes, president of Dewey’s Auto Body, Inc., in Hastings, Mich., is the recipient of this year’s “BodyShop Business Magazine Scholarship.”
AMI and Babcox present the scholarship annually to recognize management-oriented members of the Automotive Service Association (ASA) Collision Division. The recipient receives $1,000 to be applied toward expenses to attend the International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) in Las Vegas, Nov. 5-8.
Solmes has worked in the automotive service industry for 13 years and has been a shop owner for the past eight. He is a member of ASA, I-CAR Gold Class & Platinum Individual Advisory Council and is currently working on earning AMI’s Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation. He currently holds several I-CAR and ASE certifications. When not working in the shop, he contributes his time to various community organizations.
“I look forward to attending the NACE training programs and sharing the information with my staff,” said Solmes.
