The Auto Body Association of Connecticut (ABAC) sponsored a rolling
rally on April 9 comprising more than 40 tow trucks and vehicles. The
procession drove from the state capitol, where drivers honked their
horns to support proposed anti-steering legislation, to Progressive’s
concierge center in Newington to protest steering.
The rally began with Attorney General Richard Blumenthal speaking at the Connecticut Expo Center, the Hartford Courant reported.
“We must preserve consumer choice and industry competition, deterring
collusive relationships between certain insurers and repairers,”
Blumenthal said.
The ABAC backs Senate Bill 288, which would prevent an insurer from
recommending, requesting or requiring insureds to take their vehicles
to a certain shop.
