CARSTAR Sets New Guinness World Record for World’s Largest Car Wash

bill garoutte, assistant vice president for carstar, is presented the guinness world records certificate by guinness world records judge danny girton, jr. for a new guinness world record for world's largest car wash. CARSTAR is the new holder of the Guinness World Record for world’s largest car wash after more than 150 stores across the U.S. and Canada washed more than 4,000 cars on Saturday, June 20.

To set the Guinness World Record for "Most Cars Washed – Multiple Venues," CARSTAR needed to wash more than 4,000 vehicles during an eight-hour period at all of the participating locations. Local scouting troops, charity volunteers and CARSTAR staff were on hand to wash the vehicles, and a Guinness World Records official to validate the feat. BodyShop Business Editor Jason Stahl served as an "authenticator" at the car wash that took place in Cleveland, Ohio, at Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School. Also present were Cheryl Cameron, marketing representative for Action CARSTAR Collision in Euclid, and Tony Perino, manager of Action CARSTAR Collision.

"Our stores probably wash more vehicles on a daily basis as they repair consumers’ cars than anyone else in North America, so we’d love to have bragging rights to the world record," Dick Cross, chairman and CEO of CARSTAR, said prior to the event.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event will go to the Make-A-Wish and Cystic Fibrosis foundations, as well as select local charities. Car wash tickets were sold for $10 each.

3M Car Care provided participating locations with car wash soap, glass cleaner, tire cleaner and microfiber cloths for drying.
