Body Shop's T-Shirts Tell Drivers to Keep Hands on the Wheel, off the Cell Phone - BodyShop Business

Body Shop’s T-Shirts Tell Drivers to Keep Hands on the Wheel, off the Cell Phone

In a move that may seem counterintuitive at first, a body shop is hoping to reduce the number of car accidents on area roads. Monroe, Mich.-based Paul’s Quality Collision is asking local drivers, “plz dnt txt and drive,” using t-shirts to reach out to its community and promote safe driving habits.

“As long as there’s cars on the road, I don’t think we’re going to be without accidents, so I think it’s more important to be a good citizen,” shop owner Paul VanAken told NBC-24 WNWO.

With a wink to the abbreviated language used when sending text messages, the shirts say, “Paul says” on the front and “plz dnt txt and drive” on the back.

“We wanted to design it in colors and a design that kids would like,” VanAken said.

The body shop has passed out a few hundred of the shirts to teen drivers, neighbors and friends to promote the safe driving message. The timing coincides with a bill passed by the Michigan Senate that would ban texting while driving, the TV station reported.
