Sterling Autobody Centers recently kicked off its new "Techs of Tomorrow, Safety & Environmental Training Series" for schools across the country. With support from safety consultant Environmental, Risk Management & Safety, Inc. (ERS), Sterling offers training to local market secondary and post secondary collision schools via the Collision Repair Education Foundation.
Topics covered include: Hazard Communication/Right To Know, Personal Protection Equipment, Tools Safety, Good Housekeeping & Pollution Prevention, Driver Safety, and Autobody Repair & The Environment.
In addition, Sterling offers a complimentary on-site safety audit of the school facility as well as access to additional ERS online safety training for students. The Collision Repair Education Foundation provides coordination assistance for this program.
Sterling’s program provides school instructors with the opportunity to develop a unique training session to meet the specific needs of their students. Sessions typically run between one and three hours and are led by ERS staff with additional support from Sterling local and corporate leadership. The sessions are designed to be interactive so that students gain the maximum value. To date, sessions have been conducted at schools in Florida, California, Ohio and Pennsylvania, with additional schools being scheduled on an ongoing basis.
Glenn Lynch, Florida State College collision instructor, said, “The information within the OSHA class was of tremendous value for my collision students. The explanation of MSDS (material safety data sheets) was thorough and professionally presented. It was a great learning experience for our future techs.”
