Indiana Shops’ Pet Food Drive Nets Over a Ton of Food for Shelter

The 500-plus animals currently sheltered by Indianapolis Animal Care & Control (IACC) will be eating well for quite a while, thanks to Butler Blue II and Church Brothers Collision Repair.

The “Stock the Pantry” pet food drive, sponsored by Blue II, Butler Basketball, Holistic Select Pet Foods and Church Brothers, brought in over 2,400 pounds of food for IACC. More than a half-ton was contributed by fans at the Butler vs. UIC men’s basketball game at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse on Feb 21. The remainder was donated by Holistic Select, Blue’s “cuisine of choice,” to help kick-start the drive.
The contributions provide a tremendous boost to a shelter that depends upon its community’s good will and generosity.

"Without the gracious support of community partners like this, we could not provide the level of care that we currently are able to offer,” said Adam Garrett, IACC community outreach coordinator. “Additionally, exposure at the game, and promotion leading up to the game, should help create a better awareness of our agency and the challenges we face.”

The initiative was launched by Church Brothers Collision Repair as part of its Butler Athletics sponsorship program.

“We hope people were made aware of the services Indianapolis Animal Care & Control provides, and the many ways to help through donations, adoptions or volunteering time at the shelter,” said Ted McClintic, president of Church Brothers Collision Repair.

“Working with the star power that Butler Blue II brings was a real plus for us,” he continued. “Blue is one of the most recognizable and admired dogs on the planet, and he was a great asset in bringing attention to the drive. Lastly, Holistic Select really got the ball rolling with their donation, and we thank them for that.”
