EMC Insurance Companies Announces Support of NSF International’s Automotive Collision Replacement Parts Program

EMC Insurance Companies has declared its support for the NSF International Collision Replacement Parts Certification Program, which tests and certifies reinforcement bars, steel bumpers, step bumpers,
brackets and absorbers, sheet metal parts, external vehicle lighting and
exterior plastic body parts as equivalent in form, fit and function to OEM parts.

“The program will increase the availability of
quality collision repair parts and provides cost effective alternatives
to OEM replacement parts,” said Wendell Adamson, assistant vice president – claims at EMC Insurance
Companies.

Added Bob Frayer, director of NSF Automotive
Parts Certification, “Consumers benefit when a highly respected insurance company, such as
EMC Insurance Companies, supports the NSF Collision Replacement Parts Certification Program.”

NSF International is an independent organization that writes standards, tests and certifies
products for the food, water and consumer goods industries to minimize
adverse health effects and protect the environment. In the NSF Certification process, NSF engineers independently evaluate and compare alternative parts to OEM parts. According to NSF, the process requires an on-site inspection of the manufacturer’s quality system to verify that the company has a traceability program, complaint process and an in-plant quality assurance system in place. All NSF Certified parts come with a limited lifetime guarantee.

NSF International launched its Collision Replacement Parts Certification Program in early 2010, following it up with the launch of the Automotive Parts Distributor Certification Program in July 2011, which the organization said would "close the gap in the supply chain between the parts manufacturers and body shops."
