The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Minnesota (AASP-MN) has announced that it will host a safety compliance program at its Roseville office on Thursday, May 16. The workshop will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 6 to 9 p.m.
As of June 10, 2013, all automotive repair facilities are required to have A Workplace Accident & Injury Reduction (AWAIR) program. The purpose of the program is to help shop owners create a safer workplace by providing a mechanism to identify and correct hazards.
The workshop will review major hazards in the automotive repair industry and help attendees walk through an assessment of their shop and shop practices. Attendees will receive an inspection form that can be tailored for their shops.
Representatives from Complete Health Environmental and Safety Services (CHESS) will walk attendees through developing their own program. Participants who bring their own laptops will leave with custom-written AWAIR programs, shop self-assessments and shop inspection forms (valued at $1,800).
