Automotive Service Association Names Dan Risley Interim Executive Director

Announcement comes following Ron Pyle's decision to step down as president and chief staff executive.

The Automotive Service Association (ASA) has announced that Dan Risley has been named interim executive director. The announcement comes following Ron Pyle’s decision to step down as president and chief staff executive. Pyle joined the national staff in July 2002 and assumed the role of president in November 2002.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve an association with the storied history of ASA," said Risley, who joined ASA in March as executive vice president. "The ASA board of directors is committed to strengthening the association through open communication and collaboration. I intend on helping them fulfill that commitment.”

Added Darrel Amberson, AAM, ASA chairman and vice president of operations at LaMettry’s Collision in Minneapolis, “Dan’s leadership and presence within the auto repair industry are just a few of the underlying reasons we believe he is a perfect complement to ASA. The board looks forward to collaborating with him and leveraging his strengths to better the association and the value our membership receives.”

Risley, who has served the industry in many roles throughout his career, came to ASA after six years at Allstate Insurance Co. where he was a market claims manager. Prior to that, he served as executive director of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS).

Pyle, who shared with the board prior to the meeting his plans to step down, will continue to work with ASA in an advisory role until the end of the year. “This transition of executive leadership has been in process for several months," he said. "I am very pleased that Dan Risley was willing and ready to assume his new role, because he possesses all the necessary skills and has the enthusiasm and energy required to lead ASA in these challenging times."

Added Ron Nagy, AAM, immediate past chairman and owner of Nagy’s Collision Centers in Ohio, “We know Ron’s decision to step down was made with mixed emotions. We understand his choice and appreciate his efforts to ensure a smooth transition. Consulting with the ASA leadership in the months to come will be of tremendous value to the board and staff of this great association. We thank Ron for his decade of service to the members of ASA.”
