"The refinishing section of our curriculum is very expensive," says William Peffer, automotive teacher at Erie 1 BOCES Kenton Career and Technical Center. "This donation will definitely off-set the budget and increase opportunities for additional hands-on participation."

The BOCES program covers the total process of auto body restoration including metal straightening, glass and panel replacement, fiberglass repair and all painting preparation and finishing techniques. About 100 students will benefit from the donated paint supply.

“It’s been a privilege to serve on the advisory board of Erie 1 BOCES over the years,” said Joe Carubba, president and CEO of Carubba Collision Corp. “I have made some wonderful friends and also have had the opportunity to hire some of our most valued and skilled employees from the program. It’s a testament to the tremendous work being done in the program, and it feels good to be able to support them in this way.”

Added Michael Capuana, director of Career and Technical Education at Erie 1 BOCES, "Carubba Collision Corp. is a prime example of how business and educators can work together. They have taken in many of our students as interns and also employ some of our graduates."

Randy Pinkowski, corporate trainer/safety officer at Carubba Collision Corp., is an active member on an Erie 1 BOCES advisory committee and coordinated the paint donation.

The Erie 1 BOCES Automotive Collision Program is taught at three centers on behalf of 19 area school districts.
