The Collision Industry Electronic Commerce Association (CIECA) has announced the development of new standards for mobile and cloud computing.
Mobile and cloud computing require a more lightweight message size due to the use of mobile, wireless devices. CIECA is extending its Business Management Suite (BMS) to include these messages, which will be called BMSmc.
This marks the beginning of the third generation of CIECA standards, messages and codes. The BMSmc will contain the same data and business functionality as the BMS XML. The new generation of standards will be developed in JSON (Java Script Object Notation). This will allow CIECA members to develop standards, messages and codes for server-to-server applications and for mobile-to-mobile and server applications.
Initially, CIECA is focusing on three business functions:
- Repair status
- First notice of loss (FNOL)
- Scheduling
Three teams have already been chartered to develop the new messages. It is anticipated that BMSmc will first be available in late 2014.
