Industry professionals interested in understanding damage analysis repair considerations for weather and vandalism-related damage will soon have a new training opportunity from I-CAR. On Feb. 28, I-CAR says it will introduce its Hail, Theft, Vandalism Damage Analysis (DAM09) course to the inter-industry.
Hail, Theft, Vandalism Damage Analysis is an instructor-led course that will cover damage analysis procedures for different types of vandalism and weather-related damage including fluid contamination, rodent infestation and hail damage. In addition, information on the considerations around repair versus replace options for specific weather-damaged and vandalized vehicle parts will be covered in this course.
Jeff Peevy, I-CAR director of field operations, said, “Understanding the source of damage is one of the first steps in determining proper repair options for a vehicle. Understanding these procedures can improve overall estimating accuracy and help create a proper repair plan. This course meets I-CAR ProLevel 1 requirements within the I-CAR Professional Development Program for individuals in the Estimator and Auto Physical Damage Appraiser role.”
I-CAR says its new course, Hail, Theft, Vandalism Damage Analysis will help students:
Identify different types of vandalism, including fluid contamination, finish issues caused by vandalism, interior and underhood damage, and slashed tires
Determine repair or replace options for specific vandalized vehicle parts
Recognize commonly stolen vehicles and their parts, as well identify damage to both factory installed and aftermarket electronics
Recognize the difference between theft and prior damage and understand potential fraud indicators
Distinguish hail, wind, and lightning damage and determine repair options
Understand the considerations around repairing a vehicle affected by infestation and analyze potential damage
Registration for Hail, Theft, Vandalism Damage Analysis is currently open, and new classes are being added to I-CAR’s class schedule on a continual basis. Information on scheduled instructor-led classes can be found on the I-CAR website or by contacting I-CAR Customer Care at (800) 422-7872.
