Industry Report Shows OEM Parts Used for Majority of Repairs in 2008

AutoClaims Direct Inc. (ACD) released its mid-year “Industry Report Card,” which revealed the majority of collision repairs made this year used OEM parts exclusively.

The ACD “Report Card“ shows OEM parts represented 69.95 percent of all parts used in repairs, while aftermarket parts made up 14 percent. The final 16.05 percent of parts used consisted of a combination of used and remanufactured parts.

The average age of vehicles involved in losses during the first six months of 2008 was 7 years old, or the 2001 model year. The report also showed the average damage severity of foreign-made vehicles was down $447.67 per claim compared to a year ago at this time.

The "Industry Report Card" provides bi-annual insight on data and statistics compiled by AutoClaims Direct’s industry leading claims software application. For more information, visit www.autoclaimsdirect.com.
