Lewis Body Shop & Glass in Macon, Mo., was founded in 1935 by Carswell Lewis. It started out as the first gas station in town offering standard maintenance such as oil changes and tire repair, then also began selling Hudson cars. Eventually, the shop moved from the highway to its current location today, offering full service including collision repair, mechanical, general maintenance, glass replacement and tires.
At its current location, the shop grew from a one-room cinderblock building to a 12,500-square-foot facility and is currently adding another 12,000 square feet, growing its tire sales, mechanical work and glass repair and replacement. Cody and Bobby Lewis are now the third-generation owners, and the plan is to hand it down to the fourth generation (Bobby’s sons).
