The donation will help CHOP provide hope and personalized attention to children whatever their insurance status.

The amount raised exceeded a highly anticipated $100,000 milestone thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of franchisees, corporate executives and employees, and suppliers. The corporate employees had also raised money through car washes, bake sales and a variety of other events throughout the year. The first two Maaco CMN golf tournaments raised $25,000 and $50,000.

“We set out to double last year’s record donation, and through the generosity and support of everyone involved shot well past our goal,” Maaco President David Lapps said. “We asked for a great deal of support from our vendor partners and they really stepped up to the plate. Thank you to our vendors, our franchisees and our corporate employees for not only your support but your vision to see how far we could take this. We’re going to set the bar even higher next year.”

The real-life beneficiaries of the event were represented by “miracle” child Mia Garito and her family. Mia’s mother, Sarah, shared how doctors at the Cancer Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia saved Mia’s life following a diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia.

“Maaco’s generosity helps the Children’s Miracle Network support the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and its auxiliary centers, which treat and support one million patients a year,” said Robin Valentino, director of CMN at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The Children’s Miracle Network raises money for 117 children’s hospitals across the country.
