NSF International Certifies First Auto Bumper Fascia

Independent testing organization certifies that collision parts meet quality, safety and performance standards through facility audits and parts testing.

NSF International, a global independent testing and certification organization with 68 years of testing and certification experience, has certified its first auto bumper fascia under the NSF Automotive Collision Replacement Parts Certification Program. The NSF Program certifies that auto collision parts, such as Pro Fortune Industry Co. Ltd.’s bumper fascia, meet quality, safety and performance standards through facility audits and parts testing.

NSF engineers independently evaluate collision replacement parts against OE service parts to ensure the highest level of performance in terms of form, fit and function. To earn certification, Pro Fortune’s bumper fascias were independently reviewed and tested against OE service parts. NSF International also audited Pro Fortune’s OE-ready manufacturing facilities and quality systems to ensure that they meet or exceed each of NSF’s stringent requirements.

NSF believes that consumers and collision repair shops benefit from a competitive marketplace with affordable options for high quality collision repair parts with a limited lifetime guarantee. In addition, NSF states that using cost-effective alternative parts can reduce the number of vehicles that are totaled based on part repair cost. The organization also contends that collision repair shops benefit because NSF-certified parts are fit tested in vehicles to ensure they fit the first time, reducing time spent on repairs.

For meeting all of NSF International’s certification requirements, Pro Fortune’s NSF-certified bumper fascias are authorized to display the NSF mark. These parts also are listed on NSF’s certification listings webpage. To maintain certification, Pro Fortune will undergo quarterly facility audits and random, in-market parts testing, validating quality and integrity.

“We are honored to earn this prestigious certification from NSF International, a leader in the automotive industry, as it demonstrates the quality and integrity of Pro Fortune’s bumper fascias,” said Benjamin Tsai, QA manager, Pro Fortune.

“Pro Fortune’s new bumper fascia certification highlights the company’s commitment to ensuring the highest quality collision replacement parts are available,” said Bob Frayer, director of NSF International’s Automotive Collision Certification Programs and Engineering Laboratories.

NSF states that in a recent independent survey conducted on its behalf, many consumers affirmed that the quality and safety of automobiles were major concerns. NSF claims auto parts manufacturers are responding by choosing to pursue NSF Certification as proof of the quality of their parts, and more body shops and distributors continue to choose NSF-certified automotive parts.

In addition to bumper fascias, the NSF Automotive Collision Replacement Parts Certification Program also tests and certifies fenders, sheet metal components, steel bumpers, step bumpers, brackets, reinforcement bars (rebars), plastic components, lighting and absorbers. All NSF-certified parts come with a lifetime guarantee.

NSF also offers Automotive Collision Parts Distributor Certification, which requires distributors to have quality management systems in place that address traceability, service and quality issues including:

  • Effective records systems and inventory tracking systems to track orders and parts through the supply chain
  • An ISO 9001-certified quality management system
  • A defective parts procedure including a customer parts complaint process
  • The ability to administer a manufacturer’s recall
  • When necessary, a formal corrective action to complaints and an immediate recall plan.
