Equipment Donation from Atlas Copco Benefits Rock Hill, S.C., School

Compressor, dryer equipment part of educational grant for Applied Technology Center.

Atlas Copco Compressors is supporting educational opportunities for Rock Hill, S.C., high school students through the donation of a compressor unit and dryer to the Applied Technology Center, which recently received a $50,000 grant from the Collision Repair Education Foundation.

The grant provides the school with much-needed equipment, tools and other supplies, including an Atlas Copco LS15-175 air compressor and a FX5 dryer, as part of the Ultimate Collision Education Makeover. The Applied Technology Center was selected for the award from more than 70 schools.

“We’re always looking for creative ways to supplement funding and provide enriching opportunities to ensure our students can take pride in their education,” said Mark Dellinger, collision instructor at Applied Technology Center. “The continued success of our program and, as a direct result, our students’ professional careers, relies on the generosity of grants like this.”

The Applied Technology Center is an extension of the Rock Hill School District. It combines academic curriculum and hands-on experience to provide high school students with a variety of career and technical opportunities through classroom work designed specifically to prepare them for success in college, specialty and trade school, or professional workplace environments.

“The Applied Technology Center has an outstanding program in place, and we’re happy to help ensure their students’ future success by making sure they have the right tools to continue feeding their passion for learning,” said Paul Humphreys, vice president of communications and branding for Atlas Copco Compressors. “Working collision professionals rely on our compressors and dryers to do their jobs every day, and it is rewarding for us to know that we can make a difference in tomorrow’s workforce today by making sure they have the best equipment at their disposal.”

A tour of the Applied Technology Center collision program facilities, including a question and answer session with students as well as remarks from school administrators and the Collision Education Repair Foundation, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 17 at the Applied Technology Center, 2399 W. Main St., Rock Hill, S.C.
