‘Pride in Your Ride’ Car Show Raises Money, Awareness for Madison College Collision Repair Program in Wisconsin

“The industry is begging for help,” instructor Aaron Stroot told WISC-TV News 3 in Madison.

The annual “Pride in Your Ride” car show serves a dual purpose for the Auto Collision Repair and Refinish Technician program at Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wis.

The show raises money for the program’s tool scholarship, and it raises much-needed awareness of the program – and the job opportunities in the collision repair field.

“The industry is begging for help,” instructor Aaron Stroot told WISC-TV News 3 in Madison. “They don’t have enough students. The students that we graduate are getting jobs right away.”

The event showcases vehicles that the students have repaired. The family-friendly car show features live music, concessions and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds benefit the MCCR Program Tool Scholarship Fund and Equipment Fund.

“We offer up to $100 per student for tools in our field,” Stroot told WISC-TV News 3. “Tools are very expensive and this is a way that when they get out into the field, they’re able to buy the tools that are necessary.”

The sixth annual car show took place May 12 at the college’s Truax campus in Madison.

The Auto Collision Repair and Refinish Technician program at Madison Area Technical College offers a one-year or two-year technical diploma.
