AkzoNobel, Dave Kindig Partner at SEMA Show

AkzoNobel, Dave Kindig to Partner Once Again at SEMA Show

AkzoNobel announced that Dave Kindig of Kindig-it Design will again play a major role in its SEMA events.

AkzoNobel has announced its programming for the 2021 SEMA Show, revealing that Dave Kindig, television star of MotorTrend Network’s Bitchin’ Rides show and creator of custom car company Kindig-it Design, will again play a major role.

AkzoNobel will be located inside Central Hall at booth no. 20060, dedicated to Sikkens and Carbeat, its digital body shop workflow control solution. AkzoNobel service consultants will be on hand to provide ongoing Carbeat demonstrations daily

Outside Central Hall in the Silver Lot, AkzoNobel has two rig spots showcasing 4800 square feet of exhibit space (nos. 81080 and 81090). Kindig will conduct daily autograph sessions throughout the week at the rig, displaying five one-of-a-kind vehicles. AkzoNobel will also have its paints featured on show cars throughout the event, and company representatives will share their expertise at the Society of Collision Repair Specialists’ (SCRS) Repairer Driven Education (RDE) session and panel discussion.

“We are excited to engage safely with our partners at SEMA in November,” says John Griffin, regional commercial director – AkzoNobel Automotive & Specialty Coatings, Americas, and president – AkzoNobel, Inc. “The last 20 months have been full of challenges, yet AkzoNobel continues to be there for its customers. It is important we connect with customers and our partners and support the SEMA event.”

Dave Kindig Partnership

In addition to daily autograph sessions with Kindig, the AkzoNobel outdoor exhibit will be home to five of Kindig’s vintage masterpieces – his 1953 Volkswagen Bus and 1950 Volkswagen Hebmüller, as well as a 1965 Ford Mustang, 1953 Custom Corvette and 1967 Chevrolet C10. All of these cars feature Modern Classikk paints, which are the result of Kindig’s partnership with AkzoNobel. The full line of Modern Classikk custom finishes now includes over 35 basecoat colors and four reducers.

Additional Displays

SEMA attendees will also see the company’s paints on both new and vintage vehicles throughout the show, including:

  • 1951 Ford F100 Truck (booth no. 23265) – painted with Modern Classikk color “Bad Blood”
  • 1966 Chevy Corvette Convertible (booth no. 51185) – painted with Modern Classikk color “X-Spearmintal”
  • 1953 Chevy Corvette Kindig CF1 Roadster #2 (booth no. 24763) – painted with new Modern Classikk color
  • 1981 Pontiac Trans Am (feature vehicle LVCC lot) – painted with Modern Classikk color “Sweet & Sour”

Color Naming Contest

AkzoNobel will showcase three new Modern Classikk colors, which need a “‘Bitchin” name. Entries can be made throughout the week at the AkzoNobel rig (nos. 81080 and 81090), and a Kindig prize pack will be awarded to the names chosen for the new colors launching after the SEMA Show.

Industry Insights

On the educational front, AkzoNobel experts will share industry thought leadership. On Wednesday, Nov. 3, Tim Ronak, senior services consultant for AkzoNobel, will lead an SCRS Repairer Driven Education (RDE) session with tips on rethinking current business relationships, focused on evaluating the effect of changes in a repairer’s business strategy.

On Tuesday, Nov. 2, Ronak will also share insights on the Collision Stage/I-CAR Stage for an SCRS panel discussion.

Product Demonstrations

SEMA attendees will have the opportunity to request and observe aftermarket product demonstrations at the AkzoNobel booth, including Carbeat demonstrations – the software system that digitizes the repair process for collision repair shops on a touch screen monitor.
