UPS’s offset purchases neutralize the calculated carbon impact from shipping by reducing it elsewhere. A certified, market-based financial instrument, carbon offsets are designed to mitigate greenhouse gas emission through reforestation, methane and landfill gas destruction, wastewater treatment and other programs.
