The Carubba Collision New York State Golden Gloves announced at a recent news conference the 2016 kickoff to one of the nation’s greatest amateur events in all of sports.
Carubba Collision of Buffalo, N.Y., has been the presenting sponsor of the New York State Golden Gloves for the past 10 years. The Carubba Collision New York State Golden Gloves will be hosted in Buffalo at the Buffalo River Works beginning on Jan. 31st.
Boxers from across New York State (excluding New York Metro) will be competing in Buffalo. The boxers are enthusiastically preparing to seize their moment and earn their place in history and become a Golden Gloves champion.
“This is going to be a very exciting year for amateur boxing in Buffalo,” said Don Patterson, president of the New York State Golden Gloves. ”We have a tremendous slate of boxing that we want to officially announce to all the many boxing fans in Western New York and across the state.”
At the news conference, Carubba Collision Corp. President and CEO Joe Carubba explained why this event is so important to the Western New York community.
“Since the first Golden Gloves tournament in 1923, the Golden Gloves and its member franchises, like the one here in Buffalo, have provided an opportunity and environment for young athletes to develop lifetime skills,” said Carubba. “I count it a privilege to be involved with such an outstanding program that benefits our youth.”
Several of the competing boxers were also on hand at the news conference. Over 30 Boxing Clubs throughout the state (from the Adirondack Region to the Southtowns) have entered. More than 150 people will participate over the course of the tournament.
