The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Volvo is currently “teaching” its automotive cars how to react to jumping kangaroos in the outback.
There are nearly 20,000 collisions between kangaroos and cars each year in Australia, which costs Australian insurers and motorists $75 million a year.
The “flying kangaroo” data is being fed into Volvo’s planning for a 2017 experiment in Sweden in which it will let 100 self-driving cars drive 100 commuters each day.
